Benefits of Colonics

The benefits of colonics are numerous and can have a profound effect on one’s health. Even though colon hydrotherapy is still considered as an alternative practice, more and more doctors today are recognizing benefits of colonics.

John Harvey Kellogg, M.D., founder of the Kellogg cereal company, was one of the earliest proponents of colonic and many credit him for the popularity of colonics among conventional physicians in the early 1900s.

Kellogg frequently lectured on colon therapy and recommended colonics for many conditions, such as depression and arthritis.

Colonics declined in popularity over the decades as laxatives became the widely used, but has become popular again as a natural, medicine free way for detox and colon cleansing and to improve health and wellbeing.

About Colonics

Colonics, Colonic Irrigation, High Colonics, or Colon Hydrotherapy all refer to the gentle washing of the large intestine with warm filtered water to eliminate the buildup of toxins. The procedure is used to maintain digestive health and is particularly popular with people who have certain ongoing problems, such as irritable bowel syndrome or chronic constipation.

When the colon works properly, overall body systems tend to work properly. Waste material (such as impacted feces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucus, and parasites) that has remained in the colon for some time poses several problems.

This waste can re-enter and circulate in the blood stream, causing fatigue and foggy thinking. Impacted material also impairs the colon’s ability to assimilate minerals and vitamins and inhibit muscular action, causing sluggish bowel movement.

How do I know if I need a Colonic?

Just about anyone can benefit from receiving a colonic. The food we eat today is pumped full of hormones, antibiotics, and chemical additives that are toxic to the human body. When toxins build up in the nervous system, we may feel depressed and annoyed. If they back up into the heart we feel weak; if they reach the stomach we feel bloated, and if they reach the lungs we have bad breath. We may look pale and wrinkled or develop rashes and discolorations of the skin. If the glands become infused with toxins we tend to look older than we are. We may also suffer fatigue, lethargy, and decreased or absent sex drive. Regular cleansing/detoxification of the colon assists in the efficient removal of this waste.

Symptoms of a Toxic Body

• Irritable Bowel Syndrome
• Constipation
• Excess gas including burping
• Bloating feeling
• Headaches
• Foul breath
• Fatigue
• Backaches
• Problems concentrating
• Mood swings
• Weight gain
• Skin Problems

Benefits of Colonics

If you wish to maintain good health or are suffering from poor health, colonics can be greatly beneficial in the prevention and treatment of many symptoms. Read below for some to the benefits of colonics.

1. Weight loss due elimination. An average person has around 10lbs of impacted fecal matter in the large intestines.

2. Increases abdominal muscle tone due to reducing intestinal residues and edema.

3. Expels Candida, tape-worm, round-worm, and other intestinal parasites.

4. Expels built up liver toxins and gall bladder stones.

5. Creates an increase in mental clarity and rejuvenation by removing toxic substances that cause inflammation and accelerate biological aging.

6. Relieves intestinal transit problems such as gas, constipation and diarrhea without resorting to prescription drugs.

7. Improves metabolism and absorption of vitamins and minerals.

8. Improves functions of the large intestines, lymph and nervous system because a relation exists between them in the GI tract.

9. Increased sensation of well being due to the elimination of mucus, alimentary remainders not digested, gases and toxic bacteria.

10. Relieves gynecological disorders such as cystitis and dysmenorrhea due to reduction of a prolapsed intestine

Colonics Weight Loss

Weight loss occurs from colonics for a variety of reasons. One obvious one is from the eradication of compacted fecal matter, mucus, and other waste from your colon walls. It is possible to lose up to 12 lbs. from one colonic session alone!

Some celebrities such as Kate Beckinsale, Ben Affleck, Demi Moore, Paris Hilton, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Madonna recognize the benefits of colonics keep up with regular appointments. Some even schedule a colonic right before a big event to drop a few pounds before hitting the red carpet. Courtney Love attributed her recent 40 pound weight loss to colon hydrotherapy and was praising the detoxification benefits of colonics in an article with AskMen.com.

Another reason why colonics spurs weight loss is because once the colonic ‘sludge’ has been removed, it catalyzes the detox of the small intestine, gall bladder, and liver. Your liver processes fat for energy in the human body. A toxic liver cannot properly assimulate fat and will store it instead.

If you’re wondering how your liver is affected by your large intestine, consider the following analogy. If you have a car accident blocking a freeway off ramp, it doesn’t just block the flow of traffic for those drivers exiting the freeway, but also backs up the freeway a few miles. The same goes for your body. The large intestine becomes clogged and blocks the small intestine, which in turns backs up the gall bladder and ultimately the liver.

Once the large intestine has been cleared, everything else that was ‘stuck’ in the small intestine moves down and is processed, enabling the emptying of the gall bladder and liver.

Dangers of Colonics

Colonics are generally safe and pose little risk to your health. Like anything else, it’s important that you consult your primary care provider before having a colonic.

People with certain conditions, such as diverticular disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, severe hemorrhoids, blood vessel disease, congestive heart failure, heart disease, severe anemia, abdominal hernia, gastrointestinal cancer, recent colon surgery, and intestinal tumors should not have a colonic.

Pregnant women should not have a colonic as it may stimulate uterine contractions.

There are many at home colonic kits that you can try at home, but it is not recommended that you do it yourself. To ensure your safety and that you receive all the benefits of colonics, it is imperative that you see a reputable Colon Hydro Therapist to perform the colonic irrigation.

When choosing a colon hydro therapist it is important to make sure he or she is a Certified Colon Hydrotherapist uses an FDA approved closed system hydrotherapy machine, and disposable speculums and tubing.

Aligning Your Chakras

Aligning your Chakras is critical for good physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Before we begin exploring how to align your charkas, let’s discuss what chakras are in a little more detail.

Chakras, (pronounced cha-krah-s) are the energy centers of the body. Located at the major branching of the human nervous system, there are 7 main charkas beginning at the base of the spinal column and moving upward through the crown of the head. Each chakra is connected to specific organs, glands and body system and a color vibrational frequency.

In addition, each of the seven main chakras has their own intelligence center, meaning that each chakra is not only associated with our physical health but also controls aspects connected to our emotional, mental and belief system. If there are disturbances on any level, it will manifest in the chakra’s vitality level and we will feel the effects emotionally as well as in our physical body.

Understanding the chakra system will empower you with the knowledge to know when you are imbalanced and give you the tools for aligning your Chakras.

Aligning your Chakras can be done by following the recommendations for the balancing/stimulating activities for each Chakra.

Gluten Intolerance Symptoms

Do you think your may have an allergy to wheat? gluten? Before you pick up that next slice of toast, identify the common gluten intolerance symptoms and adjust your diet for better health gastronomical comfort.

What is Gluten?

Gluten is a protein that is responsible for the springiness and stretchiness of bread. It’s found in wheat, barley, and rye. Gluten can be an allergen for many people, and dangerous for those with Celiac disease, a hereditary intolerance to gluten that can lead to damage to the small intestine.

Symptoms of Gluten Intolerance

Although no studies have been done on the prevalence of gluten intolerance, the prevalence of gluten allergies is certainly higher than that of celiac disease alone.

• Abdominal Pain
• ADD/ADHD
• Anxiety
• Canker sores
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Fatigue
• Fibromyalgia
• Gas
• Headaches
• Heartburn
• Indigestion
• Infertility
• Iron deficient anemia
• Irritability
• Irritable bowel syndrome
• Joint Pain
• Osteoporosis
• Poor Growth
• Poor immune function (frequent illness)
• Sinusitis

What is the difference between Wheat Allergy and Gluten Intolerance?

Many people think that wheat allergy and gluten intolerance are one in the same, but they are not. Wheat allergy is a sudden severe sudden onset allergic reaction to a certain protein component of wheat. Fortunately, wheat allergy is quite rare and only affects less than 1% of the population. Most of the time when people speak of having a wheat allergy, they are referring to a gluten intolerance, which is a protein contained in some grains that gives bread elasticity. Because many wheat products contain gluten, those with gluten intolerance are best to avoid wheat.

Celiac Disease

Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disease in which the body cannot process the protein in gluten, leading to malnutrition and damage to the intestines. Celiac Disease occurs in as many as 1 in 133 people and can have detrimental effects on one’s health if gluten consumption continues. For optimal health and well-being, individuals with Celiac disease must avoid all foods containing gluten.

What to Eat When You Have Gluten Intolerance?

If you suspect you have Gluten Intolerance and would like to know what are best foods to eat, take a look at the table below for recommendations.

Energy Clearing

Everything on this planet carries a unique vibration. Each person, animal, plant, mineral, thought, and emotion gives off an energetic frequency. As we encounter different people and places we mingle with their energy and may absorb it in our auric field and may need to do some energy clearing.

We’ve all walked into a room where we feel immediately uncomfortable and want to leave. Or we’ve encountered people whom we try to avoid because we feel drained after spending time with them. We might have even seen a sad movie or watched the news about some crisis and start to feel depressed, anxious, and fearful. If we spend a lot of time around people, places, or focus our attention on things that carry negative energy or vibration we may acquire these properties and our lives become affected by them.

Smudging

Smudging is a Native American tradition of energy clearing that cleans a space of unwanted or negative energy. Typically, it involves the burning of dried sage leaves to create a cleansing smoke bath to remove unwanted negative energy and allow positive energy to enter. You can find bundles of dried sage at some health food stores and most occult shops.

1. To begin smudging a room, home, apartment, or office begin by opening all the windows in the space. This allows a space for the negative energy to escape and fresh positive energy to flow through.

2. Next state your intention either by thinking or saying aloud that you are clearing the space of unwanted energy and are ushering in positive energy.

3. Light one end of the dried sage bundle and blow out the flame so that it is giving off a stream of smoke.

4. Carry the smoking sage with you by hand or place in a bowl and saturate each room, closet, corner, and doorway of your living space with the smoke. It is important that the smoke goes everywhere, especially in corners and closets.

5. Lastly make sure to smudge the doorway outside your home and yourself before putting out the bundle. The smudge stick can be reused if you didn’t go through all of it. Put it out like you would a cigarette and make sure it doesn’t have any burning embers left. I usually leave mine outside for a while to make sure that it is completely out before I store it in air safe container for a later time.

Emotional Cleansing Bath

Feeling frazzled, stressed out, or emotionally drained? You       may have picked up some negative energy and could benefit from an emotional cleansing bath. Apple Cider Vinegar has many benefits, among them is soothing the energetic body when it is in need of healing.

1. First, shower to physically cleanse your body before you take your bath.

2. Fill the bathtub with warm to hot water and add 3 cups of raw Apple Cider Vinegar

3. Turn down the lights and light a few candles to set a warm mood.

4. Soak in the tub for 20 minutes, allowing your self to relax.

5. When finished, rinse off any residual energy with quick shower.

This bath is a gentle energy clearing tool. I generally do this bath anytime I feel emotionally drained and in need for some soothing.

Negative Energy Cleansing Bath

Find yourself feeling depressed, angry, or thinking negative thoughts? Or perhaps you went to a place where the energy just “felt” icky and it has had an affect on you.

A rejuvenating sea salt bath is a great energy clearing tool that removes negative energy or ‘auric dirt.’

Sea salt is a deeply purifying. Sea salt can draw out and then dissolve, or dissipate, negative energies from within and around your body and being. This is why many crystal therapists, space clearing/feng shui and other experts use it and recommend it to their clients. Sea salt is alkaline and can help de-acidify the body and raise the pH level of the body. Stress and negativity have an acidic effect on the body. The salt water will penetrate the pores of the skin and then enter the bloodstream and the tissues.

1. First, shower to physically cleanse your body before you take your bath.

2. Fill the bathtub with warm to hot water and add 1 to 2 cups of sea salt

3. Add any essential oils if using them. You can use Hyssop oil for purification, Lavender oil to relax, Peppermint oil to rejuvenate and get energized, and a combination of oils, such as Ylang Ylang, Neroli Rose, Frankincense and Myrrh, for a frequency enhancing spiritual soak.

4. Turn down the lights and light a few white candles to enhance your connection with the divine.

5. Soak in the tub for 20 minutes, allowing your self to relax.

6. When finished, rinse off any residual energy with quick shower.

If you find yourself feeling very negative, take the negative energy cleansing bath 3 consecutive days in a row.

Sinus Infection Home Remedy

If you’ve ever had a sinus infection, you know that they’re no fun.

Headache, pressure, pain behind your eyes, runny/stuffy nose, fever, and fatigue, are just a few of the symptoms you feel when you have a sinus infection.

I had the flu earlier this year and it started turning into a head cold/sinus infection.

I used to run to the doctor for a round of antibiotics whenever I felt one coming on, until I discovered a wonderful home remedy that is just as effective.

My home remedy is to do a neti pot with saline and grapefruit seed extract.

Grape fruit seed extract is a natural antibiotic and has anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties.

If you google grapefruit seed extract benefits online you’ll find numerous ways you can use it and why it’s beneficial. In fact, that just gave me an idea for my next article… but for now, back to my neti pot.

Here’s what you need:

* Large mug

* Neti pot

* 1-2 cups distilled water

* 1-2 saline packets

* Grapefruit seed extract

Instructions:

1. Fill a large mug with distilled water and microwave for 1-2 min. The water should be warm (not too hot, not too cold).

2. Add 1 to 2 packets of sea salt and 5 to 7 drops of grapefruit seed extract. Stir with spoon to dissolve thoroughly.

3. Lean your head forward over a sink, bending your neck down slightly with your eyes looking downwards.

4.Gently place the spout of the neti pot inside your right nostril, forming a seal to avoid any outer leakage.

5. Open your mouth slightly. Breathe continuously through your open mouth during this sinus cleansing procedure. This allows a necessary air passageway so that the water will not drain from behind your nose into your mouth.

6. Tilt your head sideways, so that your right nostril is directly above your left nostril. Tip the neti pot, allowing the water solution to pour into your right nostril. Within a few seconds the water will naturally drain from your left nostril into the sink.

7. After the net pot is empty, remove the spout from your right nostril, and exhale through both nostrils. Gently blow your nose into a tissue.

8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 for your left nostril.
